Standard Operating Procedure of Cleaning and operating procedure of autoclave

     1.0       Objective

     To lay down a procedure for cleaning and operating of Autoclave.

      2.0        Responsibility

      Microbiologist/QC-Executive.

      3.0         Accountability

       Head-QC executive

      4.0        Procedure

      4.1       Cleaning

      4.1.1     Ensures that the equipment is placed in designated area.

      4.1.2     Clean the autoclaves with a wet lint free cloth dipped in 70 % v/v filtered Isopropyl alcohol (IPA).

4.1.3     Clean the basket provided in the equipment with the help of dry cloth.

      4.1.4     Clean the autoclave once in a Daily.

      4.1.5    Maintain the cleaning record in log book.

4.2              Operating

      4.2.1      Press the paddle at the bottom, to lift up the lid of the autoclave and move it on one side.

      4.2.2      Fill the autoclave with water up to the mark.

4.2.3      Load the items to be sterilized in the basket provided in the equipment.

4.2.4      Make sure that sterile chemical indicator label changes colour (from light yellow to black) at 121º C                +3º C is sticked on the item containing material for disposal..

4.2.5      Lift up the lid by pressing the paddle and close it.
