To lay down a procedure for cleaning and sterlization of glassware and
garments.

4.0 Procedure
4.1 Cleaning of Glassware
4.1.1 The cleaning of
glassware should be done as follows:
4.1.2 All the media in the used Petri plates
and test tubes should be removed and collected in disposal bag.
4.1.3
The glassware should be
transferred in washing area.
4.1.4 The
glassware washed with potable water, followed by washing with teepol solution
and again with soft water.
4.1.5 Finally the glassware washed with
purified water to remove the traces of Teepol solution in / on the glassware.
4.1.6 The glassware should be dried in the
Hot air oven.
4.2 Sterilization of
glassware
4.2.1 Sterilized Glassware in autoclave.
4.2.2 All
the Petri plates shall be individually wrapped in a single layer of butter
paper or directly place in
S.S. Container.
4.2.3 Place these wrapped Petri plates in a S.S container and
sterilized by autoclaving at 121°C Screw cap sampling bottles shall be loosely capped
and sterilized by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes in autoclave.
4.2.4 After the completion of the
sterilization cycle, autoclave is opened; these bottles shall be screwed tightly.
4.2.5 Test tubes are plugged with cotton when sterilized in
autoclave.
4.3 Sterilization of Garments .
4.3.1
Used
garments shall be sent to laundry for washing.
4.3.2
After
receiving washed garments from laundry, the same shall be put in Hi-media bag
for
sterilization.
4.3.3 Place these bags (wrapped garments) in
autoclave for sterilization at 121°C for 25 minutes.
4.3.4 Subsequently the dried clothes bag
shall be kept in cabinet of the change room for
use.
